Would you rather have had Enzo Ferrari sealed the deal with Henry Ford II, or would you rather have kept history going the way it did?

I think if Ford purchased Ferrari they would have made respectable garbage until they were sold off to an investment firm after Ford’s stewardship was over, and would be in the same position as Aston Martin, Range Rover and Jaguar today.

But back then Enzo was still treating Ferrari as a racing team for the most part. That’s what Ford wanted. That’s why Enzo cut out.
Respectable garbage? Man, that would be a helluva timeline.

Agreed. It would have been a flip deal sort of like when Chrysler bought Lamborghini also. Did Chrysler benefit from that at all?

I’m glad Ford didn’t buy them. If they would have, we would have not had the GT40, and quotes from Shelby that said “Ferrari’s Ass Is Mine”
That wouldn’t be the only loss..... Ferrari would have tossed around like Lamborghini through the 80s and 90s, lost the budget for their F1 team, and eventually ending up at Fiat present day with two SUVs.

I don’t think much would have changed. Geely owns Volvo but have zero input on the cars. They just provided the money. I think it would’ve been the same thing back then.
Heck, companies join forces on cars all the time that are not under the same umbrella ella ella eh eh eh

They got the Viper engine. So money wise, no.

True, but Enzo’s an artisanal racing team. Though, if we go by a South Park episode about coffee shops, I guess you have a point.

That timeline is dark. I mean, no offense to this timeline, but jeez. Lauda, Scheckter, Alesi, Berger, Schumi, where would they be driving had Ferrari got reduced by Ford?

This is less “respectable garbage” and more “just garbage”.

F1 might be a lot better off if Ferrari didn’t have so much leverage over them.
